Downloaded about half a dozen of the newly written PAS/podXt Live patches last night. This morning, I tried the acoustic one - ok, not bad; better than "Jumbo Acoustic." Brit Grit - ok. Some of the others were ok too - "ok" being I would not hesitate to step on the pedal for that patch if I needed that particular guitar sound.

Then I stepped on PS1 Lead1 - hey, that sounds very nice! I'll definitely use this one again.

Then I stepped on PS1 Metal - and that's as far as I got with new patches. Had to stoke up the Ipod with my MIDI rhythms and try "Custard Pie" by Led Zeppelin. Turn it up a little.....oh, yeah..... Went into "N.I.B." by Black Sabbath - "PS1 Metal" may replace the patch I wrote for these songs.

The real fun was "My Sharona" by The Knack. I can't sing it too well this early in the morning, but I was close enough for government work, and had a real blast playing this song with PS1 Metal. I can't get over how the Variax/podXt Live cuts through a mix - such brilliant clarity means I can't hide my mistakes behind distortion anymore! (@#$%&*!!!!)

I have to admit to prefering my own patches to anything preloaded on the podXt Live - or anything I've downloaded - until now. Hey, my ears are my ears, and I can't argue with them. These new patches are great though - got 'em from Vettaville. Much thanks to all concerned. Now, all I need is an audience who isn't 80 years old - and wants to hear Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and the hottest rock from the Beatles, like "Birthday" - at respectable volumes. Remember that old saying - "If it's too loud......you're probably performing through antiquated equipment!"

Back to the music room! I can't wait to unleash this setup at "Beatles In The Park III" in Wilmington (NC) this October!
