Hi Folks,

My band played an open stage at a local bar this weekend. This was our first show using a traditional triple system after switching to L1s earlier this summer. Since it was just an open stage, we brought minimal gear and left the bose stuff at home.

Boy was that a mistake.

Name a problem and we had it. Feedback through the monitors? Yep. Difficult to hear each other? Check. Monitor mix failing altogether? oh yes. Bad tone? you bet! And this was all just in 5 or 6 songs! All the while I was just thinking how much simpler it would have been if we just brought a couple of L1s.

Ironically, we played well and didn't sing too far out of tune even after the monitors went away. Loads of complements and handshakes (and even hugs !?) from audience members who were none the wiser.

Any other folks out there with other similar stories to share?
