Martin Simpson has left a huge wake after his visit to Calgary over the past two days. Impressive talent combined with a warm personality. It just doesn't get any better than this!
Martin had spent a brief amount of time on an L1 in the UK prior to his solo performance here, but just enough to peak his interest. With two full hours on a single L1 Classic and two B1's to an audience of just under two hundred, he now is convinced, I believe, nothing sounds better.
He managed to get through his first song without difficulty, but the second presented him with a new challenge. After he finished, he said, "This sound system is so seductive, I actually forgot what I was doing two-thirds of the way through the last number. I apologize and won't do that again."
He commented several more times through the show: "My guitar (sound) is actually distracting me." and, "It sounds like I'm playing this HUGE guitar."
He finished the show by asking what the audience thought of the L1. Lots of applause.
For those of us marketing this incredible system, those comments and responses are indeed satisfying. Especially from someone who has seen and heard it all out there.
Last night, I supplied an L1 (Classic) and single B1 to Martin as he conducted a workshop for seventeen guitarists who want to take their playing to the next level. It was an intimate setting to be sure, but every participant heard exactly what Martin was hearing, and it was beautiful.
Coaxing even the most subtle of sounds from his instrument, Martin remarked several times on how they all were faithfully reproduced by the L1. And what good is spending all that time on technique if no one else but you can hear the result?
Bose comes through again.
