Chuck Nemitz asked me if I wouldn't mind posting to the community a copy of an email that I sent to Eve who helped put this whole project together. I am glad to oblige...
______________________ Eve, I just wanted to send you a quick note letting you know how well Dan Sayad and Tom Munch represented Bose at our Sisters Folk Festival. They worked very hard running the systems on 2 of our stages as well as putting the systems through their paces at our Songwriting Academy and for private demonstrations for folks throughout the weekend. They were both very knowledgeable and technically very savvy as well as just great folks. We have heard nothing but positive praise and buzz about the systems from our performers and attending musicians during the festival and since it ended. The public participants just thought that the sound was incredibly crystal clear at both stage venues. We did hear occasional comments indicating that the sound at the Bose stages seemed better than our main stages. Dan Sayad started out setting up 3 L1's just to do a comparison with a traditional (Mackey hybrid) PA setup being used at our Songwriting Academy 'Performance Night' on Thursday. The evening ended up with all of the almost 40 performance rotations (1 song per) using the Bose systems exclusively for the whole night. Dan did one heck of a job as each change of performers required quick change magic to have the next performer and sidemen plugged in and dialed in for their next one song act and then on to the next one. I believe that this rotation went on for well over 6 hours with no breaks. I only actually watched the last 4 hours. The systems performed like a dream and to my knowledge the only issues encountered had to due with individual performer's microphone techniques. After this, no questions asked credibility was established with our performing artist instructors and that made it easy with the other performers who used the systems cold turkey for their festival performances. Both Tom and Dan did marathon shifts on Saturday working their stages and doing an admirable job that got nothing but kudos from the artists. I know that they met and talked with a lot of the artists which is what it was all about. We will follow this up with an 'official' letter from the festival, but I wanted to get you some feeling as to how our collaborative experiment worked out and how your player reps did. Fantastic in my eyes. Bose certainly opened some eyes and ears in an area of the country where this approach and product is not very well known. For us, it was wonderful having that quality of a sound for our performers, especially in a couple of rooms that can be 'acoustically challenging'. As a bonus I understand that their are already some systems being ordered directly from the festival weekend. The long term effect will be the much greater dividend. Please forward this on, as well as my thanks, to all of the parties involved, and especially to Clifford for designing this great system. I know that there will be one in my future as well.
