A new developement, relevant in light of this thread.

I have a friend here in town, a Pro Sound Man, lives it and breathes it, talks incessantly about it...let's call him Ed. He has run sound for me and many others in our area over the years, he's good at it, and he likes it Loud!

Two years ago in my excitement, I showed him my new Bose that I had just unpacked at set up here at work. He looked at it calmly, with no change of facial expression, and then began talking about a bunch of new rack gear & subs he was buying. He never acknowledged that it was a real sound system nor mentioned it again. I was deflated.

Moving ahead to last spring, about this time of year, we played a multiple-band party at a local tavern. My 3pc Rock band played first using our two Boses. Everyone else played thru Ed's system after we finished. No comments from Ed about our sound.

Lately, he's been coming to see my new country/oldies trio whenever we are in town, and last saturday was no exception, he really never comments on the sound, but he's always around talking to everyone about his new gear. When asked about the sound he just nods in a (somewhat) positive manner.

Anyway, there was another band in town on saturday, a classic rock band...a loud one. After our second set, Ed left to go see them. At the next break he was back. I talked with him and he said they were so loud that he couldn't stand it. He said "There's no reason for that!" He used quite a few more colorful expletives.

He still didn't say "Your Bose is soooo much better." But he didn't have to, his return was all I needed to see. It made my night.

It took two years for this guy to realize (but not admit) that he likes our system and our sound.

There is hope.
