I believe that the L1 is the best tool today that comes closest to Old Rock-a-Billy sound . I've been a singer/guitarest since 1961 . I purchased an L1 about two years ago , and find that it sounds better than any stage venue sound I've ever heard . For the last 40+ years I've mostly played weekends at small to medium venues , as you described . I use to play and sing through my Gibson and later Fender amp. Back in the 40's/50's the amps had a guitar , and mic input on the amps . We relied on natural room slap back/reverb . No effects back in the original days , other than studio , maybe reverb on high dollar amps . All that was used was a room echo chamber ( hard reflections )or plates. We had the amps behind us as the L1 does also , with no mains or monitors . You can read a post I have in the Solo Duo forum written about a year ago . Anyways this is just the way I use to play gigs , and now am doing the same thing with the L1 , using just natural room reflections . I just thought I'd share my opinion with you . Have a great day - J.D.
