I'm not sure if this message is in the correct forum, if not, please move it. This past weekend, Sat. March 11th, our band had to perform without our Bose PAS system and it was a total nightmare. Here's the situation. The state I live in had a convention for chiropractors. The head chiro dude has a friend who runs sound for a living. Sound guy has a friend who is a really fantastic singer, but has no band. Said singer hires our band to do the gig. We have been down this road before, being at the mercy of a "professional" sound tech. We were told the Bose system wouldn't be needed, so we decided to bring our own small amps for piano, keyboard, bass, and guitar so we would be able to have control of our own stage volume. No way says sound tech dude, the band will run direct to the house. At sound check time this guy seemed to know his business. The mix sounded pretty good on stage just running through the monitors. Sound tech says we're too loud for the room so he turns us down and ask us if we're cool with the mix. We all agree. Showtime... first set, guitar player can barely here himself or the piano and keyboard. Bass player can only hear bass and drums and little piano. Piano player hears keyboard, bass and drums. Keyboard player hears nothing but a roar of noise. All the vocals were excellent. I struggled thru the first set, I'm on bass, trying to keep a groove with the drummer. Luckily the guitar player had two amps on stage, only one was miked to the house, so he turned up the volume on the unmiked amp, should have done this earlier...DUH After the gig we asked some of the folks that were still there what they thought about the mix. WELL, WE THOUGHT...guitar wasn,t loud enough, piano sounded decent, keyboards...what keyboards? Bass and drums and vocals sounded great...most of the time. The ironic thing about this whole mess is that our two PAS systems could have easily handled the size of this room. After the gig, sound tech dude comes up and says, "you guys were really great". I can't tell everyone here what I wanted to say. Sorry for the long post, I just had to share this experience and to say what a pleasure it is to perform with the Bose PAS system. Regards to all at Bose and this forum.
