Hey guys, a PAS w/2b1's and VoiceLive user. I hesitate to post here looking at the dates of some of these but I'll go ahead anyway. Also I hesitate because I'm not techno savy, not much of a musician and a worse singer...tell it like it is :-)
We (the bunch of old hippies that I play music with) now have 3PAS's, 2 VoiceLives and 1 Acoustic Variax (Various other equpiment used is a Brian Moore i2.13 MIDI into a Roland GR33 and slipt inot a Roland VGA7 amp)...all to just play on the porch overlooking Lake Anna it's just awesome! I use a wireless Sennheiser (E153 I think, with the goose neck mic that I have to swing out of the way when I take a drink...but it sounds so awesome) into the VoiceLive into channel 1 of the PAS. I have to say NO feed back to the point of forgetting and bending over to turn up channels 3+4 while still having the mic in operating mode (not muted). I did start to get a very faint high pitch squeal. DUH! I'm still learning the VL, very easy to use outta the box, but has a BUNCH of tweaks available...I generally use the presets 1-27, switch keys on the fly, turn off the haromonies and use the pitch correction (see above) and effects. I gotta tell ya even I sound pretty good. I do wonder how the others that are using the VoiceLive into the PAS hook theirs up in terms of do you come out of the VL using 1/4 TSR or 1/4 mono...do you use both the L & R output of the VL or which one...do you set your VL to mono then use 1/4 out (which side L/R?) then on the other end of the cable is it XLR or 1/4 inch mono or stereo pushed in part way...have you tried two 1/4 inch to XLR cables coming out of the VL L&R outputs to L or R going into channel 1 of PAS and R or L into channel 2 of PAS? I did only cuz I wasn't sure if by going mono I was losing some effects or harmonies or something. Anyway I'm just using 1/4 mono to XLR with VL set to mono into PAS channel 1 if I lose something I'm not noticing it. Oh BTW the other VL user bought another headset mic, sorry I don't know what kind but almost as expensive as the whole Sennheiser setup. Got nothing but feedback...had to mess with the gains/trims/master thing to get it to where it's almost usable...swapped out the with mic that came with the Sennheiser setup...what a difference...man these things seem to be made for each other. Ok, enough about the VL Sennheiser thing. Did you ever persue the ultimate sounding acoustic guitar thru an amp thing? I'm 53 and I can say I finally found it. I bought a Schertler DYN-G dynamic acoustic guitar pickup @ 391.50 (Elderly) plus the Schertler acoustic preamp @ another 290.00 (we have money, but no brains) this was as close to the acoustic amplified sound without sounding amplified as I could get...UNTILL I heard the Variax acoustic thru the PAS in a Guitar Center...I was blown away! Well needless to say we bought it. I have spent SEVERAL hours messing with the alternate tunings and playing thru the PAS, at times I actually sound like someone I'd go see...but I can't duplicat it :-) One more quick story. The other evening we were sitting on the porch testing the 3 PAS's getting ready to play for the July 4th gala event being held there at Lake Anna at this house. My wife, who loves to float on the water was doing so about 200 to 250 feet away and said we sounded like we were right there and sounded clean and clear...wait it gets better...later that evening a couple of guys showed up and said they heard the music across the water (later we figured it was over a mile away...I know, sound across the water, sounds like a song in there somewhere) they couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from so they drove (boat) toward the sound every now and then turing the engine off to locate us and sure enough they did and THEY said it sounded awesome...but we were pretty loud by then :-) ok thanks for your time and all the help this forum provides. - martingh, July 11, 2005 - full thread here |
