Hi ST. Sorry for the delay in replying but we've been busy. You were obviously trying to steer us away from the using one pole as a monitor idea. So we went back to the drawing board.

Given that we were fairly sure our iphone backings were less likely than the vocals to be causing our feedback we decided to try the following:

1st L1 slightly in front and to the left carrying three vocals and one Taylor acoustic.

2nd L1 behind centre ( about 5 feet behind my mic ) carrying just the backings.

We were hopeful that this would cure both the feedback and the problem with not being able to hear the beat well enough.

Well, we tried it last night and . .. total success !!! Not a hint of feedback despite the fact it was a bigger pub. We heard the backings perfectly all night and the balance was just right.

Being honest, ST, we were starting to doubt the Bose solution. Constant feedback meant that everything else was irrelevant. However, last night we were able to relax so much that i went for a walk round the pub ( big oval central bar with seats round and alcoves) to hear our sound for the first time. Several things were obvious.

1. Bose was right. The sound is crystal clear. Lots of comments on being able to hear the words and on volume being just right.

2. The drop off in that size of pub was almost non-existent. At the far end I could hear perfectly and thought that when i got back in front of the band it might be too loud but no.

3. We had the feeling that there was still a fair amount of volume in reserve if we needed it.

The only minor niggle now is that it would be good to ge the second pole behind us as well but i don't think that'll happen until we get a deeper stage to play on.

However, we had a great night so thank you for all your help. I'll feel free to pick your brains if any other issues arise
