Hi there,
I just wanted to share this experience that happened last Saturday.
First of all, let me set the scene:
I have some friends who run a wine bar and they had entered a 'Chili Cook-off' deciding to go with a Jamaican theme,(jerk chicken chili). For background effect they had planned on playing Bob Marley tracks but when I offered to play live reggae for free they thought it was a great idea.
So, I arrived at the venue which was in a huge car park belonging to the historic Depot building which is now a bar and restaurant and is situated right alongside the railroad tracks.
There was a 5-piece rock band hired to play for most of the time so I first approached them and they said it was fine for me to play while they set up and also in the gaps when they took breaks. By the way, they seemed to have a huge amount of gear and when I asked it turned out to be a 3k system. Plenty to deafen everyone with!
There I was, playing ' Liquidator', an old reggae instrumental track when there was a distant rumble - gradually this got louder and heavier until a very, very slow moving freight train started to pass by. It literally drowned every sound out including me! OK,I thought, this is a great oppurtunity to test out my Bose system,(with just one B1 by the way). I turned the mic completly down then turned the master up from 12 o'clock upto 3 o'clock. Wow, it was amazin'. My rendition of Liquidator was being heard pretty clearly over the volume of a pssing train and pretty soon I had a crowd of folks wondering where that sound was coming from. Every one of the rock band was stood there with big grins on their faces, they were stunned. As soon as the train passed I turned it back down to my normal level. That was the loudest I had ever had my Bose operating and I can't really imagine needing that volume - I'm sure the mic volume couldn't keep up without feeding back.
The other band had some great players in there but like so,so many other bands - they played way too loud for the situation. It was really to loud to listen to and apart from a few nutters who seem to like standing right in front of the PA stacks, every one else kind of backed way off so at least they could hear themselves shouting to each other.
To sum up - I was amazed at the clarity of this system even at higher than normal volumes,(normally I have the master on the remote at about 10 or 11 o'clock. This is plenty loud enough for the bars, restaurants or pool parties where I play most.

Thanks to Cliff and everybody at Bose for coming up with this system. Cheers, Gordon.
