Hi Gang,
Just wanted to let you know how things turned out last weekend at the big Frankenmuth, MI Oktoberfest. We're about 100 miles north of Detroit. We finally had a chance to play the big pavillion that the city put up last year. It's a big place, 100' X 200', metal structure, cement floor, high ceiling, and large garage doors to let in some air. It's really quite a place. We play a duo, midi accordion with an arranger and also a guitar with a pod unit. Anyway, conventional sound guy garantees that the Bose is not enough. Claims that in this building the crowd noise is just shy of 100 db. I told him that at that level of noise, it just isn't going to make any difference what you use and all you're going to do is send people home with ringing ears. Got a big humph out of that statement.

Anyway, we played the early shift and had mostly the senior crowd. Ran volume at about 1:30 on the remote (way louder than we usually run) and it was just fine all over the building. Everyone could hear just fine and nobody complained about the volume. Sooooo, the next band gets up to play using the sound guys front system, and guess what? Many complaints about how damn loud these guys are and who the hell is running the volume??? Later on in the evening, the sound guy's son comes up and says thanks for using "that stuff" so that everybody can complain about the other bands..... Once again, another Bose "I told you so" story. By the way, Saturday they went through 111 half barrels of beer and were at 187 for the weekend...... A great time.
