On Saturday 8th September 2007 I worked my very first 'overseas' wedding. It was my brother's wedding in a town called Port Fairy, which is about a three and a half hour drive from Melbourne, Australia. As I'm based in New Zealand, the challenge was obvious- I couldn't risk taking my treasured L1s internationally.
I spoke with David Cribbis at Bose Australia, who in turn put me in touch with Trevor Rose at MusicLink in Melbourne and Bernie at Billy Hyde Music, also in Melbourne. These three wonderful people found an L1 system for me to use at the wedding. Thank you to all of you! Everyone was blown away, especially the venue and the musicians attending the wedding. I took the absolute minimum of equipment possible, with a couple of laptops (one for backup), a mixer, a couple of wireless Shure microphones and a surplus of cables. Because I knew the Bose characteristics and layout, it was a dream set-up. The room was large, with a very high ceiling and was acoustically bright. The Bose performed faultlessly and was clear and even throughout the reception. Speeches were crystal clear, the music was loud enough to keep the dance floor moving, but quiet enough for conversation and the feel on the night was perfect. The venue staff couldn't believe how discreet and yet how incredibly effective my rig was! I didn't use any lights, but it made absolutely no difference to the night. Thank you Bose!!! -DJ Richard, Award Entertainment, September 10, 2007 Full Thread Here |
