Hi All,
Finally my first post after months of gleaning much knowledge and enjoyment off all of your posts here. What a great communitity!
I've owned an L1 for about 6 weeks now, and used it several times with acoustic guitar and looper (Digitech JamMan) in addition to vocals (myself or myself + my wife) mostly in Worship situations. We've had great results with it, and as so many have mentioned, have heard more positive comments about our music since we've been using the system. This weekend, a couple of old friends and I played for an outdoor beer garden event for a large crowd. We did an acoustic thing (I know, strange for a beer garden) with two acoustic guitars and bass. The other guitar player was from out of town and brought another borrowed L1. With the room available, we set the L1's maybe 5 feet behind us. The other guitar player played and sang through his L1, and the bass player and I sang through mine. My guitar was also running through my L1 (through channel 3), and the bass player used a bass amp. We pushed the volume as much as we could per some listeners suggestions (whose ears I trust). We were all using SM58's and all went well except that the other guitar player struggled "some" with high frequency feedback. It appeared from the settings that all the mics we set at roughly the same level (and all flat EQ), and his mic was pointed much more off-axis to his L1 than myself and the bass player (although we tried lots of different mic angles to remedy the situation). In examining his settings I was surprised to see that he had selected preset 1 for his mic, but sure enough, in his preset listings, it listed preset 1 as "SM58" (whereas in my presets, SM58 is preset 14). Did this L1 have the V 1.0 presets? I know mine has the V 2.0 presets. I realize there are lots of variables here that may account for his feedback issues, but I was just curious whether you felt that the difference between the 1.0 and 2.0 SM58 presets may have been partially responsible for the difference in feedback suppression? I guess I should also mention that I was using a old powered Celestion sub with mine and he was using a B1. To me the tone of the L1's were compariable, except for the occational hint of feedback he was fighting. His regular band uses that L1, and I'd like to let them know if you felt they would benifit this much in feedback suppression by updating their presets.
