I've had my single PAS system (2 bass) for a little over a month now. I am currently a single restaurant act, playing and singing jazz standards.
Other things I own and have used: Crate CA125, Boogie Subway Rocket, Marshall DSL401, PODxt with Shortboard, and Mackie VLZ1202. (BTW: All of these things are for sale-hehe) It has taken me all this time to get my sound "dialed" in right. That's because there's some much you can do with this thing. This is my setup, for what it's worth: I use an EV ND/767, plugged straight into.... are you ready?... a KORG Pandora guitar effects unit about the size of my hand, where I have programmed ONLY a complete range (wetness levels) of Arena, Garage, Hall, Room 1 & 2 reverb. Nothing else. Then straight into Channel One, with the EV present (though I don't think the Preset works after going through the KORG) For guitar I use a Brian Moore C55w/Piezo. I run the electric side directly into a Lexicon MX-200 (LEX preprogrammed #1 or #21, which are supposedly VOCAL reverbs). Then straight into Channel Two (00 preset). I run the Piezo into an Alessis EQ, with linear settings of extreme bass all the way up, extreme treble all the way down, and then straight into Channel Three, (using guitar volume controls). I must say with absolutely no modesty that I sound GREAT. I'll put my jazz guitar sound (not technique) up against anybodys. The piezo is (so far) about 95% as pure sounding as my wife's Martin. If she had the top o' the line, I believe I could dial it in 100%. If you eat and spit out the EV 767 as needed for vocal dynamics, you can't go wrong. We're waiting on a ProKeys88 keyboard for the wife. If she likes it I'll let you know when to send the second PAS. I love it !! - jazzmaker, April 5, 2006 - full thread here |
