Hey guys,
The T1 kick-gate is an indispensable feature of the T1 engine. Those of you who own T1s probably know this. But be very careful when doing *other* gigs, and using V-drums after setting up your T1 with the kick gate. I can't tell you how many times, I run a vocal mic or my V-drum Overhead instruments into a channel that still has the kick gate engaged from the last gig. I know, I should always bring up a fresh *scene* for those other gigs, but I forget. I go in and change presets, and look at reverb & echo, but always forget about the Gate. My gigs are divided between acoustic drums, electronic drums, and open mic settings. Things change almost every gig. I played a winery gig last weekend where the entire gig was darn near ruined by my horrible V-drum sound. All the instruments sounded *hard*. My mother in-law always requests "Wipe Out" and I always play it, but this day, I had to tell her NO. She said..."you (the band) don't sound as good today as usually...I understand". Even she noticed. I spent the entire time trying to fix things inside my TD-12 module, or with presets, only to find out the next night half way thru the open mic, that the kick-gate was "on" the channel that was passing my drum sounds. Sheesh! When it's a vocal in the afflicted channel, it's easier to spot...but for short duration sounds like many in a drum kit, it's harder. Be smarter than I am...use fresh scenes. |
