Drummers,

I would like to learn a little bit more about how the T1 is being used in your live set up.

How are you utilizing Kick Gate, zEQ, or compression to help achieve your sound?

Any other details that you can share in terms of mic preference or placement may also serve as a good resource to new users.

I look forward to your comments.

Neil

Nothing elaborate to report, have been very *mimimalist* with the T1 and drum set.

Kick drum with Audix D6 & Preset, and the kick gate's *slow* setting, a bit of extra zEQ now and then.
Overhead drums with a pair of Sennheiser E604s, mounted to the rack and floor toms, aimed toward the snare,
Y'd to a single input channel with General Overhead (for more low-end) or SM57 Differential preset.
No compression or efx, sounds good to me.

Same here.
I have a Shure Beta 91 on the Kick and have recently started using the Audix D6 preset, The Kick Gate set on Kick Gate regular and a little tweaking with the zEQ. I have stuck with the Beta 91 because it doesn’t require a stand. I just set it inside the Kick drum. A preset for this mic would be cool but I'm happy with what I'm getting. The zEQ is a pretty remarkable tool.
I use one overhead mic a Shure Ksm27 condenser. Again, a preset for this would be cool. I did try the "hand perc.w/SM57 preset"with this mic. No zEQ and no effects It sounded great right out of the box.I think this preset is a keeper. The picture below shows mic placement.
I hope this helps.
Rick

Edited because the zEQ is so easy that I wrote EZQ. My bad.

Rick, that is just the best looking drumset! Goes well with the beautiful background scenery.

I'm amazed that you get a large diaphragm condenser mic to work with your L1.
My Neuman TLM103 fedback before I could get much out of it.
But that was in my beginnings with Bose, maybe I should try again sometime,
now that I try to play with quieter bands.

We were doing the Thornbury “Jazz in the park”2008 and I was miked pretty loud using 4B1s and I had no feedback issues at all. I’m still amazed at how far the bass projects at this venue.

Oh my! What beautiful wood! Rick your snare is absolutely stunning! I'm a bass player so I don't usually drool over drum kits but that is gorgeous.

What brand of kit is it?

MAN, Rick! I was just thinking the same thing as Pete & Neil & Mark - what a GREAT looking kit, and I'm not even a drummer...

Your pics make me yearn to HEAR you - LOOKS like it SOUNDS wonderful - all those natural instruments, plenty of Bose behind you (you need a few more subs though! wink...), incredible settings, and I'm sure attentive appreciative audience.

Cool thread...

Mike

Ahhh - I remember Ayotte from when I lived in ST's neck of the woods. IIRC they were a "boutique" manufacturer known well locally. Haven't heard about them since relocating to the USA. Too bad - they deserve some international notoriety.

Oh! Another Kanuck?

Thanks Mike
The Ayotte with wood rims have a warm earthy sound that is projected to the audience accurately using just the 2 mics, the Bose L1 /T1/B1 system and Presets.
