I have an Alesis electronic drum kit I am not sure if I should purchase The Li compact system or the L1 system with the optional bass module. I am playing in a small hall with the capacity of 100 people. which L1 system would be better

Hi, denpa! Welcome to your first post on this L1 forum.

If I were a drummer, and I wanted to created a sound as close to an acoustic drum set as possible, I'd go with a larger L1 with TWO B1's.

No question about 2 B1's. One B1 should only be used as a transition until you can acquire a 2nd B1.

The Compact can be a backup/fallback for small rooms (might make a great rehearsal system, for example), but it really needs help for the bottom end. While a powered bass can be added to the Compact, I would guess most drummers would be happiest with a full-size L1 and 2 B1's -- and some would tell you that 4 B1's (adding a Packlite and 2 B1's) is the only way to go.

Our church drum kit uses 2 B1's with an L1 Model 2 via a Roland TD20, and the drummer is satisfied. There is seating for ~85 people (albeit the fire-marshal capacity is 120 -- that's SRO!).

GO WITH EITHER MODEL I OR MODEL II They can use 1 or 2 bass modules and sound good in small and medium size venues. You will also have the option to add more bass modules if needed with the optional Packlite. I usually use 2 subs with my TD-20 unless I am in a larger venue or outdoors then I will use 4 subs 2 with the bose and 2 with the packlite. You will also have a bass line out which the compact does not have. I hope this helps. Thumper

The person who suggested that was thinking of stereo, which you don't need as much as you need low end.
By all means go with a bigger system.

Do you also have acoustic drums?
If you ever will, the T1 Tonematch has a built in kick drum gate that allows you to get lots of volume on your bass drum.
It is a godsend.

The T1 will work with either Model I or Model II.
I'd go the extra expense of the Model II, you truly get what you pay for.
