I did sound for an awesome party band named The Dweebs. So far this has been the biggest crowd in front of my L1's, which did great. More later....

See video here!

Hi jdbassentertainment.com

Now that's a party band.

How much of the sound was coming through the L1®s and what was handled in other ways?

I would have loved to have been there. I think you are going to love the PreSonus board. It will help in leveling out the sound. Just watch for clipping on the L1 as I believe you will be getting a better mix to the BOSE units. I can't wait to get my units bought so I can experiment like you have. I think it will be an awesome setup for the amount of people I am running sound for these days.

Hi. I've been asked to sound for some non-Bose bands and I've wondered how they would work as FOH. Obviously, very well. Did you use B1s for the subs, and if so, how many and where did you place them?
Thanks,
Mitchell

I use 12 B1's as the subs for a larger show (8 B1's for a smaller show) in tne center - in a 2x6 config.

That would have been my first guess on placement, but I was not sure. I only have enough packlites and subs to do 8, but for this gig, I suspect it will be enough. If my cables don't arrive in time, I'll have to do 4 subs per side, next to the L1s for now. The gig is for a wedding in a medium sized hotel ballroom with Guit/Voc, Bass, Drums, Keys, Sax, 2 Female Lead Vocalists in front. We'll probably use 4 QSC K12s for stage monitors. I tried to talk them into letting us provide enough Bose systems behind them to do the job, but they are just too 'old school' and feel better with a wedge in front of them. Oh well.

Although we never use the gear for our own band, my drummer owns a Presonus 24.4.2 board, QSC K12 and K-Subs with monitors, snake, etc.. We hope that by using the Bose in front instead of the QSC for mains, we'll get at least as good as sound, better coverage and, for us, less strain on our aging backs!

In my all-Bose band, I've played much larger rooms without a problem. E-Drums/Voc with L1M2+4 subs, Bass/Vocals (me) with L1M2+2 subs (I have 4 but have never needed them), Guitar/Voc L1M1+1 sub. People are always amazed and pleased in both bar and corporate events.

Thanks for the info. I've checked out your other stuff on youtube and your web site. Good work all the way around!

JD,
Looking back at these videos. I would like to pick your brain a little. I know that I have personally talked to you on the phone several times about the use of the L1s as FOH and how well WE are running the PreSonus boards with our L1 Systems.
Looking at the Dreeps video, I see a Compact used in the middle of the stage area for FOH. I would only assume that the Compact was used for the Vocals and maybe guitars and Keyboard(s). How did you route the signal to the Compact?
