Hey,
I had a question about the availability of the Model 1. I wanted to maybe purchase them through another vendor so that I can get a 2 year extended warranty. I recently (about 2 weeks ago) saw the Model 1's on both Guitarcenter.com and Musiciansfriend.com. I looked today and they both only had the Model 2. They also seemed to remove the Sk8 cases that I was interested in for the Model 1. Does any one know why this might be? I know that they just had a promotion on the Model 1, and was wondering if they could possibly update the Model 1? Just a thought. It could be just a coincidence but I wanted to know if any of you guys had any other info. Thanks |

I'd stay away from GC they will charge you tax since they have stores in every state. I'd go with Musicians Friend, they have always done a good job for me.

2 year extended warranty in addition to... what? Why not do Bose.com? |

I believe that GC and MF are under the same management. From Wikipedia: "Guitar Center's sister companies/subsidiaries include Music & Arts Center, Musician's Friend, GuitarCenter.com, LMI, Giardinelli, Musician.com, Private Reserve Guitars, Woodwind and Brasswind and Harmony Central." --Rick |

That is right, but even though the are owned/operated by the same people they do not run the same. I've had several screw ups from GC but 0 from MF. For instance when I got my first Bose products (Dual L1 system Quad B1's) when it got to my door I was missing one B1. It took several calls & seven day's to get the other one. Then when I was going to get my first extended bass package the sent me Two Sony CD players/burners instead. Again It took over a week and a bunch of phone calls to get the B1's to my door. You would think I would have learned my lesson the first time but I thought I'd give them another try, boy was I sorry. I'm sure they get some orders right, but I won't be ordering from them again. I've also had troble with Music123 which is also a sister company of MF.

A few years back, I picked up a used Model 1 off the floor in a Chicago GC. I live in CO so they shipped it for me. Somebody put the L1, the towers and the sub in one big box. They bounced around like peas in a pod. Needless to say, it was dead on arrival. I would never have anything shipped by GC again.
Unless you need it right now and GC has it in stock and you are physically at that store, MF is probably the better of the two, with free shipping and, depending upon where you live, no tax. I had a MF Platinum Card but found the company who manages the card practiced predatory lending practices. Stay away from them. That said, your better bet might be one of the Bose indy reps out here who really know their stuff and have the time to share it with you. Or from Bose direct but expect to pay some tax, etc. Same as cash financing available too! |

I am a big fan of American Musical Supply. www.americanmusical.com These folks carry the complete Bose L1 product line and they have a great payment plan. It is NOT a credit card or credit line...it is five equal payments taken directly from your credit or debit card. No credit checks what-so-ever..just select the easy payment option at check-out. There is no sales tax and most of their products ship free.
(It is even a better deal than buying from Bose direct because you can avoid the tax and shipping.) I have purchased a lot of gear from this company over the years and am very satisfied with their service. As far as extended warranties are concerned..I'm not sure. |

Dynamite,
I thought it would a good idea to get an 2 extended warranty that is offered through GC or MF or another dealer. The warranty would kick in after Boses' 2 year warranty on the power stand. I think I will def go with MF but I just checked out musicmans recommendation and AMS seems like a good alternative. Has anyone else ordered from AMS? |

Besides Bose.com I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! |

I like www.samedaymusic.com. They offer free shipping on a lot of products and sometimes offer free 2-day shipping. They also charge no sales tax unless you live in New Jersey. They also give you a 60 day satisfaction guarantee on most products. I've also used www.pssl.com several times and never had any problems.

AMS is awesome, I've ordered alot of lights from them and they were packed very well. Better than anyone else I have ordered from. And talk about fast delivery, ordered my lights on a Saturday and got them on Wednesday 4 days later.
Havent ordered any Bose products from AMS. |
