For DJing, i can't believe how incredible the T1 is. I just got it this week and am excited to use it at a wedding this saturday.

First off, the sound card will blow you away.

Then being able to use it as a mixer, send one or more channels out for recording, headphones, or house speakers, add effects to any channel. It really is an amazing piece of equipment.
Yes it has all of those instrument effects that I won't use. However, the things I will use will not only make my job easier, but give a better sound and more options for my customers.

to me, that's exactly what the T1 is....a perfect mixer for computer djs.

True, but it won't fit into my coffin case very well.

It's not a perfect mixer for computer djs.

1. You can't monitor the other channel that you need to cue for the next song or beat mixing...

2. It's not a stereo output mixer (this is only taken from what I've read on here that it cannot do both of these)

Cool! I control my volume from the laptop anyway due to PCDJ having a built in mixer.

My luck (as usual) I'll buy one and then Bose will come out with a dj mixer (which I think a lot of djs would be all over, a perfectly matched system)then I'll be mad at myself for not waiting......

.....anybody at Bose know if they are going to make a dj mixer for the L1 systems?

..well, I guess not. So I went ahead and bought a T1 today just out of curiosity to see if I'm missing anything not having one. I'll let all you guys with the 802's know what you're missing soundwise (if there is anything, besides the effects).

I plan on using the USB from my laptop to the t1. Do I need to disable m Echo Indigo dj card? Anybody know?

Are the auxilliary and master output the same output as long as I set them that way? I plan on using each for right and left channel.

Should I use 1/4 to 1/4 from the t1 to the ps1?
trs or TS?

I have not updates my ps1's yet to do 58. Is this already in the t1?

I want to add another computer/or ipod to another channel. Do I need to use one channel or two to get stereo or couple both channels from the sound source to the T1 in one channel?

I'm sure I will have more questions.

Sorry - don't know about this part. I'm guessing that you will have to tell your computer which audio device you want to use. The T1® is probably called Bose USB Audio

We have notes about how to do this.

T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine / USB / Output Stereo to Two L1®s

Either. The Model I (or Classic) Power Stand ¼ inch inputs are unbalanced (TS) so you can use either TRS or TS. There won't be any better performance using TRS though, so don't spend more money for TRS cables.

YES

Tricky, but you may be able to make this work. It would take two channels.

USB for the first stereo connection will be using Master and Channel 4/5.

This leaves Channels 1,2,3.

I usually leave Channel 1 for vocals so I would use Channel 2 and Channel 3 for your second stereo source.

You will want to read the notes to which I linked above for the following to make sense.

  • Connect Left to Channel 2 and route it to the Aux Output. To do this, set it exactly as shown in the notes for Channel 4/5.

  • Connect Right to Channel 3 to and route it to the Master Output. You don't have to do anything special to make that happen. Just do not enable AUX on Channel 3 and you should be fine.

Please take a look at the notes, try things out and let me how you make out.

Thanks.

well, this kinda messes things up a bit. I did read or rather skim over the notes but there were some questions unanswered. I use a wired and cordless mic so I will pretty much be out of inputs after putting things in by your recommendations.....

Are you saying that even though I use the USB that I can't use 4/5 for another stereo source? I thought the usb carried the sound signal form the usb?

Hi Dynamite DJs,

If you have two stereo sources plus two microphones you may need to be a little more creative about things.

Channel 4/5 will accept two sides of a stereo pair, but it does not have any way to keep those separate as in Left to Aux and Right to Master.

USB can carry two sides of a stereo pair but to route one side of that to Aux, you have to run it through Channel 4/5 as described in the notes.

So to run USB to two separate outputs (Master and Aux) you need to run one side to Master and the other side to 4/5 and then to Aux.

As I'm writing this, I suppose you could *try* one of the analog inputs on the 4/5 pair for one half of your second stereo source. I can't imagine that would hurt anything.

Then run the second half of the second stereo source to Channel 3.

That would leave Channels 1 and 2 open for your microphones.

I am nowhere near my gear today or I would check that out.

Dynamite,

I just got a T1 and connected it for the first time, last night, in our home studio (converted garage). Playing music off Ots via USB through the T1 and out to one L1 M1 and one B1. The sound was so much better than what I hade with my Echo Indigo card through a Mackie mixer. I always thought we had a great sound (so did our clients) but the difference is a dramatically cleaner and more dynamic plus more headroom to boot. I will probably get away using just one L1(2 B1’s) more often now.

I’m not that concerned about stereo but the option is nice, if or when we need it. I will just be adding a pair of mics and experimenting over the next 2 days before using it next week at our first holiday party of the season. Can’t wait!

Hi Dynamite DJs,

I just got a chance to check this out and it "works" — sort of.

I say "works" in quotes because

  • Yes, you can get two microphones and two stereo sources into the T1® and have all those inputs go out to two L1®s. This is how I did it.
    - Microphone #1 into Channel 1

    - Microphone #2 into Channel 2

    - Stereo source #1 is computer via USB
-- Left to Channel 4/5 to Aux
    -- Right to Master

    - Stereo source #2 is some kind of analog device (dvd player, mp3 player, etc.)
-- Left to Channel Channel 4 to Aux
-- Right to Channel 3 to Master

  • Yes, you can maintain the stereo separation for the stereo sources. That is Left goes to one L1® and Right goes to another.

  • With some care you can have each microphone got to one L1® or the other L1®. I think things may sound a little odd if you have a vocal input go to both L1®s unless you have them at least 20-25 feet apart.

BUT

You will want to control the stereo sources from source devices (computer via USB and analog device)

  • It is awkward to control the relative volume of Left and Right stereo inputs using the T1®.

  • There is no convenient way on the T1® to control the relative volume of the first stereo source (computer via USB) versus the second stereo source (analog source).

I have not confirmed with anyone at Bose if this raise any concerns.

ST, Dynamite,

ST's scenario above should work. I haven't had a chance to try it myself, but I see no issues with the routing.

Give it a shot and report back on how you make it work for you.

So, on Scott,s recommendation, I got my hands on a T1. I must admit the sound is great but I’m having some issues with my set up and I may have discovered the Achilles heel of the T1 as a stand-alone DJ mixer.

I am not concerned about stereo but I am concerned about ease of control. Specifically, I need to roil up or down the microphone volume while I roll up or down the music volume and I want to do it all at the T1.

No problem controlling the mics but I just can’t figure how to set it up so I can control (at the T1) the volume or muting of the music coming out of my laptop, via USB. Yes, I can do it on the laptop but this is just not practical for a smooth transition from music to speaking and back.

Any suggestions?

Hi Lou D,

Assuming you are running to just a single L1® this might work.

If you are not concerned about stereo then you could do this.

Go to Prefs and set
USB from PC

Set
  • Left to Channel 4/5
  • Right to Channel 4/5

This should allow you to control the volume of the PC with the Level Control for Channel 4/5. You should also be able to use the Mute button.

You will also be able to control the Microphone and Music from the Computer independently.

And finally - you can raise and lower the overall volume with the Master level control.

Please try that and let me know if that allows you to do what you want.
