We might be doing a bit of travelling, and wondered if any of y'all have dealt with flights with your equipment. I have seen SKB cases for our stuff, but how do you get it where you're going? Ship it? Check it on flight? Both aren't cheap, but just wondering. Also started a website! Still working on it and have a video being shot this weekend and will put it with some pics in the corresponding page. www.cowboyupzdc.com

By the way, nice website... I travel frequently for non-DJ type business so take what I say with a grain of salt. As for traveling with your Bose system, I too may face this question in the coming year. A good friend his getting married a 5 hour air plane ride away from me and has asked me to consider being the musical entertainment at the reception. If I accept, here are the options I will explore: 1. Taking the T1 in my carry on bag (This would be the only piece of Bose equipment I would consider taking on a plane. 2. Find a Bose Buddy/Owner in the location and Borrow/Rent one from them (If you are ever gigging in the New England area, consider me a Buddy) 3. Call the Bose store and/or local Guitar Center to see if I could rent one from them. 4. Do a search online to find another source to Rent an L1 5. If I can't find a Bose to rent, then I'll rent the best lightweight speakers on a stick I can find. It wouldn't be the same without the L1's and Compacts but I'd feel a whole lot better, overall, knowing my Bose are safe and sound at home. 6. Reflect the rental & delivery cost in my fee to the client so the expense is part of their budget. (In this case, the client is my friend but I will still charge a fair price) I know that the situation is very different with musicians given their need to have specific musical instruments, amps, etc. I also know that some musicians travel a lot so I'm sure there are ways to address any concerns you might have about transporting your Bose. If you don't get good responses here, try posting this thread in the musicians section, I know many of them troll here. (I troll there too...smirk!!) However, as a DJ, I still can't imagine hauling my L1, B1's and Compacts through airports unless I could afford and trust a Roadie to do it...and even then....? Anyway, I hope you get some good responses. "A little cheese goes a long way in human interaction"

I have not traveled by air with my L1 but would not be afraid to. I have the SKB roller cases for the Model II power stand and the Speaker columns. They are very good cases, made like the Golf club cases that I have traveled with by plane, with no damage. With curbside check in there is no need to move through the airport with the cases. Getting from baggage claim back to curbside might be an issue if traveling alone, but one can almost always find a cart to load things on. If time allows, and you have saved the original shipping boxes, they are strong enough to ship again. Time without the L1 becomes the issue in this case. I would investigate the possibility of renting at the venue city, it would probably cost more than shipping but would take some of the pain out of traveling. O..

Hi DC@CowboyUPzdc. If you are looking for Bose Buddies you can post a note here: Owner Networks "This is a forum for enabling owners of the L1® system to connect with one another to borrow gear, gig with one another and start new bands."

In a lot of bigger city's Bose is now part of the rental gear. Check out the A/V rental houses or sound companies.
