Seen as this is a DJ community. I'd like to see what tracks work in different territorys. A lot of tracks are wedding centric but i'd like to open the discussion up to see what works 9 out of 10 for people.
I'll get the ball rolling. Amy Winehouse- Valerie AC/DC-Thunderstruck The Contours- Do you love me The Ronettes- Be my Baby Jackson 5- I want you back Dee-Lite- Groove is in the heart Johnny Cash- Ring of fire Diana Ross/ Supremes- The Happening John Paul Young- Love is in the air David Bowie= Let's Dance Human League- Don't you want me |

Looks like this crowd ain’t too excited about floor fillers.
I really enjoy other’s song lists, always something to be learned. So, to help keep the thread alive, I thought I would weigh in with a short selection (could have listed a hundred), including a few oldies and some that may have been overlooked. Bonjovi - We Got It Going On Mitch Ryder And The Detroit Wheeles - Devil With The Blue Dress On Spencer Davis Band - Im A Man Spencer Davis band - Gimme Some Lovin Gretchen Wilson - Here For The Party Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get It Started Hank Williams Jr. - All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild Sam and Dave - Soul Man Blues Brothers - Soul Man ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man Pink - U + Ur Hand Temptations - Cloud Nine Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar Rolling Stones - ***** Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs - Wooly Bully The Commodores - Brick House ![]() |

To tell the truth, guys, I rarely play ANY of the songs you two have listed.
Here are ten titles that almost always work for me: Old Time Rock-n-Roll (Bob Seger) The Twist (Chubby Checker) Hips Don't Lie (Shakira) Hot Hot Hot (Buster Poindexter) Fins (Jimmy Buffett) Joy to the World (Three Dog Night) Cha-Cha Slide (Mr C) Ain't Too Proud to Beg (Temptations) Grease MegaMix (John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John) Build Me Up Buttercup (Foundations) |

As far as "non-Top 40" music is concerned, I would consider these to be very popular wedding tracks in the Philadelphia area:
The Foundations "Build Me Up Buttercup" Spiral Staircase "More Today Than Yesterday" Stevie Wonder "I Wish" Earth, Wind & Fire "September" Kenny Loggins "Footloose" Journey "Don't Stop Believin'" Michael Jackson "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" Young MC "Bust A Move" Bel Biv Divoe "Poison" Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" Steve Croce Silver Sound silversound.com stevecroce.com twitter.com/stevecroce facebook.com/stevecroce |

Interesting thread. I work for older ballroom dancers. In my setting I notice the dancers need a certain song to do their learned steps to.
Do your dancers do this or mostly groove to these songs? Also are there times when the music plays and there is no dancing to these tunes? Thanks for your listings. |

I am surprised that NO ONE included the #1 floor filler of ALL TIME....

Here's another thought, does anybody have a certain first fast song they use to get them out dancing ? Without using the Cha cha slide, electric slide or cupid shuffle ? Just wondering.
I used to use Celebration |

I forgot Cecilia By Simon & Garfunkel. For some reason this track gets all the ladies out on the dance floor. I think it's the beat.

Kansas Ram Jam is a bit of a wild card, it works very well with the right crowd. At least around here that is the case.

The one song that always gets it going for me is
Stayin' Alive by N-Trance I haven't played Old Time Rock and Roll since a client told me we DJ's wore it out playing it at weddings.... |
||||
|
Guys, just curious what kind of dancing you get or anticipate from "Ram Jam"?

Tbone, my 2 cents about Old Time Rock And Roll
If it works indeed play it. If a client says something about it leave it out of their event. But if Old Time Rock and Roll does not work then leave it out of your music format unless it is requested at a party. Just a thought |
|||
|
|
|
TBone, how old was that client?
Old Time Rock and Roll... I don't use it that often but at weddings, if the demographic (boomers) is there and I need something to get them dancing, it works every time. Most boomers don't get out near as much or attended as many weddings as someone in their 20's or 30's and they haven't heard OTR&R played for a while. The B&G rules when it come to music selections but I tell my B&G's, while this is all about them, they should consider the older folks at wedding, the ones who are bringing the gifts and dropping the envelopes. I never had one argue with that idea. If one did, I might not take the gig. |
