Last night I was using a single unit and wishes there was a 2nd one down stream.

I was feeding it a 1/8 stereo input and occasional mic.

If I did have a 2nd one, what is the easiest way to distribute the audio via the Compact audio vs sending the same source to both?

Thanks!

Hi DJ ED,

Bose anticipated this with the design of the Compact.

There is a line out on the Compact. It is a ¼ inch jack (Tip-Ring-Sleeve). You connect that to the second Compact (Channel 2 with ToneMatch switch off).

More details here: Compact Line Out

Does that answer your question?

So, if I read this correct, a 1/4 BAL (TRS) would provide 1:1 gain?

Is the output a fixed level (pass thru) or does it adjust w/ the gain controls?

¼ inch jack Tip-Sleeve Unbalanced will give you -6 dB as compared to a Balanced connection.

The output varies with the Volume, Tone, and ToneMatch setting.

Please see: Compact Line Out

Thanks.

Okay...so let me get this straight...I can bring a stereo source from my laptop into the first Compact...then I can chain it to a "slave" compact using a 1/4" to 1/4" audio cable. How does the second compact receive the stereo signal via a mono cable? Will the second compact have exactly the same sound reproduction as the first?
I'm just a little confused how this works
Could the RCA out from one Compact to the RCA in on the second also work?

Hi musicman7261,

The Compact is a mono device. The stereo signal received at the RCA inputs or the 1/8" jack inputs are summed to mono internally.

The Outputs are also mono (even the RCA jack outputs).

You can use RCA out from one Compact to the RCA in on the second Compact, but I would use a Balanced ¼ inch jack connection instead. It is probably a more robust connection in terms of resistance to line noise.

And yes, the second Compact should sound just like the first.
