I didn't purchase one yet but I am a bit confused. How can one almost equal the sound output as having two?

If you are referring to ST's post about 4 or so replies back, he is referring to comparing a single Model 2 L1 to two Compact L1's.

Sort of like comparing a single large pumpkin to two somewhat smaller squash -- the same amount of food might be prepared either way, but it'll taste a little different.

===================

On the other hand, if you are referring to some replies somewhat further back in this thread, comparing 1 Compact L1 to 2 Compacts, then an analogy might be this (un-amplified singers):

One singer has a certain loudness to the audience. If a second singer joins in, standing beside the first, the duet will NOT sound twice a loud to the audience. Yes, it will be somewhat louder, particularly to the people up close to the duo, but not twice as loud.

Thank you Dan. So, for dj use, would I be better off having 2 compacts or one of the regular L1's? My thinking is 2 up front would make the set look balanced to the amateurs, and if I get the opportunity, I could place the second one elsewhere. How is the base response on the compact?

oh noooo, look here: http://www.adynamitedj.com/Bose/Bose.html
Most of my events are done with one L1 and 2B1's. You hardly notice the speaker anyway and most (amateurs) people are impressed that that much sound comes from something.... so small!

The bass response on the Compact is very good for what it is, but the bass of a B1 is a little louder & lower. Plus you can add more in the future if you wish!!! Read the discussion called L1 Compact can't compare to Big Daddy". There is some very important info for you to consider before you "take the plunge".

Thanks Dan! I still don't know how to do that.
