Hi everybody, has anyone else experienced less bass from the T1 vs a different mixer you own? I can't speak for all the mixers out there but when running music through my Denon X500 mixer & then through the T1 there was quite a bit more bass with the Denon.

I was just wondering if any one else has experienced this. The lack of bass translates into more overall volume from the L1's, but to me not sounding as balanced & too treble strong.

If you have the T1 & another mixer either DJ or band do an a/b test of your own & let us know what you find.

The owner said it's 8600 square feet in this room. Floor space only. I have plenty of headroom and sound just with this. I think it has a lot to do with the T1. I never got this with a dj mixer or band type mixer, but the band type mixer was much better than the dj mixer.

When you send a musical signal to a T1 it cannot simply make the music louder just because of the fact that it is a T1. What I'm getting at here is the only way to make the music louder when feeding a signal to the L1 is to cut out a bit of the bass. When I had the T1 & was doing tests with is & my L1 mod.1, the one thing I noticed was that my DJ mixer had way more bass. Keep in mind this is with all EQ settings flat. I value a good low end to more volume. If I wanted as much "volume" as the T1 can produce all I would have to do is just turn down a bit of bass on my mixer & turn it up. I had both the T1 & my DJ mixer & did a/b tests & this is fact, not an opinion.

At the one gig that I used the T1 for the first 20 min. or so, when I switched back to my old set-up there was a ton more bass. It was very noticeable. My wife even said "wow where did all the bass come from", when I switched back & she never really comments about the sound.

Now people might say that I didn't have the T1 set up properly, but I did. Because I am a perfectionist & wanted my first gig with the T1 to go off with out a hitch, I did a bunch of research before I even got the T1. Once I had it I must have called at least four Bose tech guy's to make sure I had it set up correctly, & I did. To me the higher frequencies were shrill & overall the sound sounded very processed. Also a lack of low end was noticed as well. No matter what I did this was the case until I turned down the highs on the T1 from 12 o' clock to 10 o' clock & then boosted the mid's & bass. After doing this I could almost make the T1 sound as good as my mixer, but it bothered me that I had to do this. So I sent the T1 packing.

Several thousand of us own, use and love our Bose T1 mixers. We have worked with them clearly for more than just a week or two and still don't claim to be total experts, although there are a lot of perfectionists who own a T1 who would love to differ on this "Constant Tirade of Misinformation" regarding the performance of the T1. I realize that there is a former user of a T1, who was unhappy with it's performance in their environment, I feel badly that it did not work out. I also feel very badly that I get to hear about this 1 experience several times a month.

I am happy to say there are not only many positive reviews of the T1 but most of us would not want to be without it. In 30 something years of performing, I have used many different pieces of equipment, including mixers and integrated systems. I have not come across a mixer that can be as versatile, true sounding and convenient all in one package as the Bose T1.

When we state "Facts" as opposed to opinions, in an uncontrolled environment, with personal Bass preferences being referenced at a few points in a room, that would be more like "Anecdotal evidence" or an opinion, unless actual SPL meters and proper measuring equipment is used.

It was a "Fact" that several people felt this way. I'll buy that. More Bass, is not necessarily a true measure of good sound, it is a preference and very subjective.

The T1 has a LCD screen with numeric values as indicators of level.

There is no 12 o'clock or 10 o'clock position.

I can understand why a DJ specific mixer would have a standard eq curve or flat setting that was bassier than a mixer designed for wider applications.

I don't think it is a reflection of the capabilities of the T1 as far as it making music sound good, or right. Only a reflection of the user's preference for control of the sound.

All I know is that the sound card in the T1 makes my computer sound better than any of the sound cards I've used. "Better" is simply my opinion.

other sound cards used:
realtek(in laptop)
soundblaster audigy
Denon hd 2500(this one sounded very good as well)

The only issues I have with the T1...
1. It is not user friendly in a stereo application with 2 L1's.
2. I can't see the mute buttons in sunlight.

Performance wise, I love it!

I've had more headroom, clarity and bass more than any other dj type or band type mixer I've ever used with the T1.

I recall a conversation we had sometime back. I just got my T1 and told you about the incredible gain in headroom I experienced. I thought I might have not been using my other mixer correctly and this was just an anomaly. Figured someone with your time in the business would be able to figure that out.

You (Dynamite) were still skeptical but took the Bose challenge and got one. You never looked back after that and I knew for sure, the difference was real.

Yes, you have stated this several times. I have had the complete opposite experience with the T1 & my DJ mixer the Denon X500. I'm glad the T1 works so well for you, but I'll be sticking with my trusty- great sounding Denon.

To any one out there thinking about getting a T1 for DJ use, I have a little advise for you. Keep you old mixer just in case you don't care for how the T1 sounds or works. If you like it keep it, if not send it back & keep DJing with your old mixer. That's what I did & boy am I glad I didn't sell my X500!

Hi JDB, the only reason i am still using the T1 is because I only have 1 set of L1 MII. Using Pioneer or Rane mixer, summing up their stereo output internally creates muddy sound..
so basically I own an expensive Di Box LOL

I an in no need to buy another L1MII at the moment.

Agree on 1 L1M2 2 B1's and a T1. I use to have 2 sets but I had to sell my other set for a set of New Mackie HD1531's 3 way to cover the loudness needed for bigger venue. Although, it's always the Bose that gets the clients at AWE! I set up my gears with Bose in the middle and MackieHD on the side with Rane/Serato video mixer main out to my T1. My 2 B1's beats the low end of the Mackie on low to mid volume with my T1 bass EQ set to 6. With this set, I can play both small and large venue without a problem. No worries for backup.
