Really excited to have found this forum!

I play a roland rd300sx in a jazz band, normally with 2 x roland kc150 60w amps. I can't play mono, i absolutely need stereo. With a single amp the piano just sounds horrible, tinny, nasty, weird effects on certain notes and frequencies. But when I hear the piano with headphones it's delicious.

So I need some amps that sound good. And light to carry. Can Bose help?

Thanks

Depending on the size of the venues you play, a pair of Compacts and an external stereo mixing board is your solution.

If you need a longer throw and more volume (and want to stay BOSE), then go with their loudspeaker family (802/502)

There are lots of threads here on the forum about trying to get a good stereo sound from a pair of Bose towers. Check those out too.

Hi jt7874,

I took a look a your Roland KC150 amps and the Bose L1® Compact is about the same size and weight.

If only because the main speaker array is elevated, (at the top of the vertical extensions), I would expect that the Compact is going to give you better projection into a room than amplifiers on the floor. The fully assembled height is 80.5 inches. Total weight is approximately 30 pounds.

If you are not using a mixer now, then I don't think you will need one with the Compacts.

OK thanks guys. I'm based in the UK, it seems we pay a US480 excess for living in the uk on the l1 compact - costs 900 pounds here vs your 1000 dollars.

The question is whether it will support my piano in small jazz combos (with and without drums) in smallish venues, dining halls etc. I can only afford one. But if the sound quality is better than my keyboard amps then that is great.

Anyone know why these are so expensive in the UK?

Thanks
